Senior Legal Counsel - Property

Axiom Law is partnered with a leading Victorian organisation that is seeking a senior Property Lawyer to join its legal team on an exciting interim assignment. Ideally with 15+ years’ PQE, you’ll provide senior legal advice across a complex and high-profile property portfolio, supporting major operational requirements, acquisitions and disposals, leasing arrangements, development projects and complex land-title matters.
Responsibilities
- Lead leasing matters across a diverse and operationally significant property portfolio, providing practical and commercially focused advice on commercial, operational and leasing arrangements.
- Support major development and capital projects by advising on property structures, acquisitions, transactions, documentation and legal risks throughout the project lifecycle.
- Manage property-related matters including acquisitions, disposals, leasing arrangements, licences, occupancy arrangements and associated property issues.
- Resolve complex land-title matters, including investigating title issues, easements, access rights and other property constraints, assessing legal and commercial risks, and working with relevant stakeholders to achieve practical outcomes.
- Partner with internal stakeholders across property, infrastructure, operations, finance and project teams to provide commercially focused property advice and progress multiple matters efficiently.
- Manage and instruct external legal advisers, ensuring matters are progressed effectively and aligned with commercial and operational objectives.
- Advise on a broad range of property transactions, including acquisitions, disposals, leasing arrangements, development projects and other strategic property matters across a complex and diverse property portfolio.
What we’re looking for
- Strong experience in commercial property law, including leasing, acquisitions, disposals and complex property transactions.
- Experience advising on major development, infrastructure and capital projects, including property structures, documentation and associated legal risks.
- Strong understanding of land-title matters, easements, property rights and other issues arising across complex property portfolios.
- A commercially minded and pragmatic approach, with strong communication and stakeholder-management skills and the ability to manage multiple matters, internal stakeholders and external advisers in a complex, fast-paced environment.
