Senior Legal Counsel

Axiom, the leading provider of on‑demand legal talent globally, is seeking a senior legal counsel for an initial three‑month engagement providing parental leave cover. In this role, you will act as a key member of a commercial‑focused legal team, shaping and implementing legal strategies that support business objectives across marketing, contracting and general commercial matters. You proactively assess and manage legal risk, offering clear guidance to stakeholders and collaborating with colleagues to resolve complex issues, ensuring the organisation maintains strong governance, ethical standards and compliance across multiple jurisdictions.
Responsibilities:
- Provide strategic legal advice across a complex multinational environment, ensuring legal guidance supports commercial objectives.
- Assess and manage legal risk by delivering clear, pragmatic advice and supporting leaders in high‑impact decision‑making.
- Advise on commercial, contracting and dispute matters using strong analytical and problem‑solving capability.
- Uphold governance, compliance and ethical standards while maintaining high levels of integrity and professional credibility.
- Communicate effectively with senior stakeholders through clear written and verbal advice and strong interpersonal engagement.
- Exercise sound judgment in ambiguity by applying business acumen and legal expertise to deliver confident, timely decisions.
Requirements:
- Provide specialised legal advice across intellectual property, consumer law and general commercial matters during an initial three‑month engagement, drawing on substantial in‑house or top‑tier firm experience.
- Draft and negotiate complex procurement contracts and manage related disputes, including litigation strategy and resolution.
- Ensure compliance with Australian legal requirements while applying insight into neighbouring jurisdictions such as New Zealand.
- Maintain the highest standards of integrity and deliver clear, credible legal guidance to stakeholders in a fast‑moving commercial environment.

Axiomites predominately work remotely, with the exception that some clients require on-site presence.
