Commercial Energy Lawyer

We are currently seeking an Energy Lawyer to work with a publicly-traded energy supplier on their UK legal team to focus on drafting and negotiating power purchase agreements. This is an exciting opportunity where you can bring your legal background and business acumen to support a cutting-edge team while tackling complex legal challenges on a global scale.
Responsibilities:
- Structure, draft, negotiate, and review complex power purchase agreements and related ancillary agreements for the purchase and sale of electricity and renewable energy.
- Manage key client relationships and closely counsel internal clients in the energy sector, understanding their business needs, and providing practical, concise, tailored legal advice.
- Advise on strategies for risk mitigation and management, regulatory compliance, and dispute resolution.
- Provide counsel to EU based team on pertinent UK related rules and regulations impacting the trade of electricity and renewable energy.
Minimum Qualifications:
- 8+ years of experience as a practicing lawyer or solicitor with excellent transactional skills and deep industry knowledge.
- Experience drafting and negotiating power purchase agreements with limited oversight and ability to counsel a dynamic multinational trading team offering timely and practical legal guidance.
- Strong understanding of contractual terms governing the purchase and sale of energy and a deep knowledge of industry best practices and UK and international regulations impacting energy trading.
- Strong business acumen coupled with excellent communication skills.
