Intellectual Property Attorney

We are currently seeking an Intellectual Property Attorney for a large packaged foods manufacturer with strong brand recognition on a national scale.
Responsibilities:
- Support a small but sophisticated legal team on a wide variety of intellectual property and marketing matters including advising on trademark, trade secrets, licensing, and advertising law.
- Assist in the management of the company’s and subsidiaries’ IP portfolio including handling registrations, brand protection, and managing outside counsel.
- Counsel marketing teams on licensing agreements and review marketing materials for advertising compliance, including rules and regulations surrounding marketing food products to children.
- Review and revise commercial contracts to ensure IP portfolio protection and assist with other daily legal duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications:
- 5 - 10 years of trademark and trade secret experience, patent experience is helpful but not a primary focus.
- Experience working in-house or directly advising on fast-moving consumer goods products with food and beverage specific experience beneficial and preferred, but not required.
- Strong drafting and negotiation skills, in particular direct experience drafting licensing agreements, and ability to assist in the management of a large IP portfolio.
- Experience reviewing marketing materials for compliance with state and federal rules, regulations and industry best practices.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work closely with marketing and advertising teams as well as other legal professionals and internal business leaders.
