Estate Planning Lawyer

Axiom is seeking an experienced Estates & Administration Lawyer to support a legal technology business that provides legal services directly to private clients on complex estate planning, wills and trusts matters. In this role, you’ll advise private clients on succession planning and estate matters as part of an established legal team. The engagement is full-time for an initial 3–6 months, with the potential to develop into a longer-term or permanent opportunity for the right person. The ideal candidate will be available to work on a hybrid basis in Sydney, NSW. Remote candidates may also be considered.
Responsibilities:
- Advise private clients on wills, estate planning and succession matters, providing clear, considered guidance tailored to their personal circumstances, family needs and objectives.
- Guide clients through complex estate administration matters, including probate and letters of administration, explaining their options and supporting them through each stage of the process.
- Apply your senior technical expertise to strengthen the quality and sophistication of the legal offering, sharing knowledge and helping improve how the team manages complex matters.
- Identify opportunities to make legal workflows more efficient and scalable, including through the thoughtful use of technology and AI.
Requirements:
- At least 6–8 years’ post-admission experience in estates and administration, with the technical expertise to manage complex matters independently.
- Proven experience advising private clients on wills, estate planning and succession matters, including understanding their personal circumstances and objectives and providing tailored, practical guidance. Experience drafting wills and advising on probate, letters of administration and estate administration is essential.
- Strong judgement and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trust, communicate clearly and sensitively, and guide clients through personal or complex matters.
- A practical, operational mindset and an interest in delivering legal services efficiently and at scale. You’ll be proactive and comfortable working in a fast-growing, technology-led environment, with curiosity about how technology and AI can improve legal workflow.
