Legal Consultant - Intellectual Property
Singapore - Remote
Axiom is looking for an experienced IP Legal Consultant to join our growing team and partner with one of our large tech clients. This is a unique opportunity to work closely with business and cross-functional teams across Southeast Asia (SEA) and the broader APAC region to develop and enhance intellectual property (IP) governance for a fast-growing global technology platform.
The team sits within Global Legal and supports multiple business units in developing and implementing global and regional policies, rules, processes, and tools relating to IP protection. The team works to ensure the platform remains safe and trustworthy for users and intellectual property rights holders while supporting business growth and innovation.
The successful candidate will be a strategic and commercially minded IP lawyer who is comfortable operating in a fast-paced, evolving environment. You will work across legal, policy, operations, product, and other functions, helping to identify emerging risks, develop practical solutions, and drive projects across multiple markets.
Key Responsibilities
- Support business units in developing, implementing, and updating regional IP governance policies, rules, educational materials, internal SOPs, and operational processes.
- Advise on the development of tools and processes designed to improve the experience of users and IP rights holders while managing and mitigating IP-related risks.
- Support the investigation, management, and resolution of high-impact local IP disputes, complaints, and incidents across relevant markets.
- Partner closely with cross-functional teams, including Policy, Operations, Product, Trust & Safety, and other stakeholders, to identify legal risks and implement practical, scalable solutions.
- Manage and develop relationships with brands, industry associations, law enforcement agencies, government regulators, and other external stakeholders.
- Participate directly in external meetings, provide legal advice and talking points, establish SOPs, and review agreements, memoranda, and other relevant documents.
- Monitor developments in local IP laws, regulations, enforcement practices, industry standards, and business trends, particularly across Singapore and SEA.
- Provide legal guidance and/or lead cross-functional initiatives to implement changes arising from new or evolving legal and regulatory requirements.
- Develop and deliver IP training and educational sessions for internal stakeholders.
- Identify emerging and forward-looking IP risks and recommend commercially practical solutions.
- Lead or support regional projects, including developing project plans, coordinating stakeholders, monitoring progress, and ensuring timely delivery of key deliverables.
Qualifications
- 4+ years of relevant legal experience, preferably with substantial experience in intellectual property.
- Strong knowledge of Singapore and/or Southeast Asian IP laws, regulations, enforcement practices, and industry standards.
- Experience advising on IP issues in a technology, platform, e-commerce, social media, or similarly fast-paced environment is highly relevant.
- Ability to identify legal and regulatory risks proactively and translate them into clear, practical, and commercially workable solutions.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively across functions, geographies, and teams while managing multiple priorities and tight deadlines.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build trusted relationships and effectively engage with both internal and external stakeholders.
- Strong analytical and critical-thinking skills, with the ability to navigate complex and ambiguous matters.
- Comfortable working independently and taking ownership of projects from inception through execution.
- Ability to operate effectively in a fast-moving, continuously evolving environment and manage pressure while maintaining quality and sound judgment.
