Best in Class: Study Ranks Axiom #1 Across Key Performance Metrics

What do GCs want from their flexible talent legal service providers and how does Axiom rank on their scorecards?
As a relentlessly client-focused company, Axiom commissioned a leading strategic consultancy to conduct blind research of in-house legal team leaders to identify the critical factors GCs use to evaluate flexible legal talent providers. We wanted to ensure we’re not just measuring what we think matters, but what actually matters to the GCs making buying purchase decisions.
I couldn’t be prouder of the results. Axiom led all flexible legal talent competition across the board, earning the top ranking in 8 out of 9 performance categories. And the 9th category, where we came in a close second, reinforced why we matter so much to our clients and how we’ve achieved our market leadership position.
Gold Standard ALSP Research
We commissioned the specific consultancy because of their deep expertise in the ALSP sector and their broad network of top corporations across all industries. We also knew they wouldn’t hold back in calling out any areas where we missed the mark. We wanted views from a broad mix of companies including clients that know us well and prospects who don’t use us at all.To that end, the consultant conducted a blind survey of 298 corporations across both enterprise and SMB segments. Their research identified nine quantifiable factors that GCs prioritize when considering which flexible legal talent provider to work with and how they measure the return on that investment.

According to the survey, the top priority for GCs is expertise and pedigree of talent—where Axiom ranked first overall. In other words, the quality of our people is second to none.
We scored even higher in pure performance numbers on breadth of practice and geographic coverage, the sophistication of our talent matching platform, and the timely availability of our services. This captures what we’re all about—quality, depth, and responsiveness.
There was one area where we ranked a close second, not first: perceived cost. Even here, dollar-for-dollar, we’re at the top of the pack. The survey revealed that 70% of GCs see us as the most cost-effective solution in the market.
That’s because, according to our own 15,000 client feedback surveys, we deliver better quality and reduced risk with shorter turnaround times and fewer billing hours. And today, by pairing our lawyers with field-tested, leading GenAI tools—including Harvey, Legora, and DraftPilot—we’re bringing productivity and cost-effectiveness to the highest levels possible.
Axiom is More than You Think
While the survey we commissioned looked at Axiom compared to other flexible legal talent providers, our ultimate objective is to have clients think of Axiom as their first choice for “run-the-company” legal work rather than sending that work to law firms.
Our research shows that more often than not, in-house teams send work to outside counsel purely out of habit, even when the work could be done far more cost-effectively by an ALSP. Why? The reasons range from administrative ease to the need for a turnkey solution.
But in most cases, Axiom can do the work just as effectively, if not more effectively, than law firms for a fraction of the cost. Indeed, 93% of clients rate Axiom lawyers as good as or better than top law firm attorneys, yet Axiom costs up to 50% less. And Axiom lawyers bring deep in-house acumen, so they know how to get work done in a corporate environment. Compare our hourly bill rates to the AmLaw 200 average and consider our scores across the nine dimensions above.

Our depth of expertise, broad coverage, and unmatched flexibility are why clients rate us so highly. Put simply, Axiom is your go-to for both “run-the-company” and “grow-the-company” legal work. So next time you’re about to call a law firm or post a new FTE role, start with Axiom. Chances are, we’ll be the only call you need.
