Derivatives Lawyer

We are currently seeking an ISDA Negotiator / Derivatives Lawyer to work with a leading Canadian-based investment bank. This role will involve drafting and negotiating documentation associated with commodities and OTC Derivatives as part of a busy and collaborative team.

Responsibilities:
- Support legal and business teams with reviewing, drafting, and negotiating ISDA agreements with an emphasis on commodities and metals.
- Draft and negotiate OTC commodity derivatives documentation including ISDAs, CSAs, control agreements, confidentiality agreements, collateral agreements, risk participation agreements, give-up agreements, confirmations and ancillary documentation.
- Provide legal counsel to internal business leaders and external counsel to ensure compliance with internal policies and procedures and federal and international rules and regulations.
- Assist in the implementation of new initiatives, processes, or protocols in an ever shifting market.
Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience practicing law, with at least 3 years of hands-on experience negotiating ISDA agreements, ideally within a large investment bank.
- Firm understanding of the regulatory landscape impacting derivatives and commodities capital markets and ability to provide sound legal advice to ensure compliance.
- Excellent knowledge of all OTC derivatives documentation with experience with commodities or metals being very beneficial although not required.
- Sound judgement, strong organizational skills, and ability to prioritize matters in a busy and fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work on-site in downtown Toronto, although for exceptional candidates – fully remote work may be available.
