We are seeking a Trade Compliance Professional / Counsel to join our team in support of a leading global manufacturing clients. This role focuses on supporting international trade compliance initiatives across U.S. and Mexican operations, ensuring compliance with import/export regulations and cross-border trade requirements. We are looking for a hands-on professional with strong experience in international trade compliance who can partner with cross-functional teams to identify regulatory risks, implement best practices, and support global business operations. The ideal candidate will bring practical experience in a manufacturing environment, excellent communication skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, project-driven setting.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead customs operations and international trade compliance initiatives across U.S. and Mexican manufacturing operations.
  • Oversee tariff execution activities, including tariff impact assessments and implementation strategies.
  • Manage Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) classifications and provide oversight of customs broker relationships.
  • Support duty mitigation strategies, including Foreign Trade Zone (FTZ) initiatives and other customs optimization programs.
  • Provide guidance on Mexico import operations, including IMMEX/Maquila programs and customs broker controls.
  • Advise business stakeholders on U.S. and Mexican import/export regulations and cross-border trade requirements.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain trade compliance policies, procedures, and scalable compliance processes.
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate regulatory risks related to international trade and customs activities.
  • Partner closely with supply chain, logistics, procurement, operations, finance, and legal teams to ensure compliance with applicable trade regulations.
  • Ensure audit readiness by supporting internal reviews, documentation, and compliance assessments.
  • Monitor changes in international trade laws, tariffs, customs regulations, and sanctions, and communicate relevant updates to internal stakeholders.
  • Support compliance investigations, customs inquiries, and other trade-related projects as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience leading international trade compliance or customs operations within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. and Mexican import/export regulations, customs compliance, and cross-border trade requirements.
  • Demonstrated experience with HTS classification, customs broker oversight, and tariff execution.
  • Experience supporting Mexico import operations, including IMMEX/Maquila programs and customs broker controls.
  • Experience developing, implementing, or managing trade compliance programs, policies, and procedures.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver practical, business-oriented compliance solutions in a fast-paced, project-based environment.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience supporting multinational manufacturing or industrial organizations.
  • Experience with Foreign Trade Zone (FTZ) programs, duty mitigation strategies, and customs optimization initiatives.
  • Familiarity with customs audits, import/export documentation, and compliance investigations.
  • Experience building scalable trade compliance processes and governance frameworks.
  • Professional fluency in Spanish and English is preferred but not required.
  • Experience working in a consulting, project-based, or highly collaborative environment.

Compensation:

The estimated total compensation for full-time Axiom attorney roles is $104,500-325,000 per year and for non-attorney roles is $71,250-309,750 per year. Compensation decisions are based on various factors, including, but not limited to, experience, skills, certifications, location, and business needs.  Employees may be eligible for additional benefits, including health, dental, and vision insurance; paid holidays and PTO; flexible work arrangements; and professional development opportunities and tools.
