Join Our Team as an IP Paralegal at Axiom
We are seeking a Patent Paralegal to join our Intellectual Property team. This role focuses on supporting patent prosecution, portfolio management, and IP operations for innovative, technology-driven clients. We are looking for a detail-oriented professional with hands-on experience in patent filings, docketing, and lifecycle management of global patent portfolios. The ideal candidate will bring strong organizational skills, a deep understanding of USPTO and international filing procedures, and the ability to manage complex workflows across multiple jurisdictions.
Responsibilities:
- Preparing, reviewing, and filing patent applications and related documents with the USPTO and international patent offices.
- Managing patent docketing systems, tracking deadlines, and ensuring timely filings and responses.
- Supporting patent portfolio management, including maintaining records, tracking prosecution status, and coordinating renewals/annuities.
- Assisting attorneys and agents with patent prosecution, including IDS filings, office action responses, and formalities.
- Coordinating with inventors, outside counsel, and foreign associates on patent filings and prosecution matters.
- Conducting basic patent research, file history reviews, and document organization.
- Ensuring compliance with applicable patent rules, procedures, and internal processes.
- Supporting IP operations, including process improvements and workflow optimization.
Qualifications:
- 8+ years of experience as a patent paralegal or in a related intellectual property role.
- Strong knowledge of USPTO rules, patent filing procedures, and docketing systems.
- Experience managing patent portfolios and coordinating domestic and international filings.
- Familiarity with patent lifecycle processes, including prosecution and maintenance.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with IP management systems (e.g., Anaqua, CPI, IP Manager, or similar).
- Familiarity with international patent filing procedures (PCT, EPO, and foreign jurisdictions).
- Experience supporting high-volume patent practices or in-house IP teams.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Compensation:
The estimated total compensation for full-time Axiom attorney roles is $104,500-325,000 per year and for non-attorney roles is $71,250-309,750 per year. Compensation decisions are based on various factors, including, but not limited to, experience, skills, certifications, location, and business needs.
