Health Insurer Turns Its Own Redlines Into Ten Negotiating Playbooks

Written by Axiom Law | Sep 11, 2026, 9:23:06 PM

Challenge

The client wanted to reduce attorney time on routine contracts so the team could spend more of it on strategic work. That meant an automated playbook and review platform covering a varied set of agreement types, not a single template.

Approach

An Axiom attorney from DraftPilot's original beta group built 10 playbooks in the tool. Where the client had templates, those set the primary position; where agreements always sit on vendor paper, DraftPilot analyzed prior redlines to find what the client repeatedly pushed back on. Each playbook got a fallback ladder , tuned with the GC so routine matters never reached her desk. Rollout ran on live training, a cheat sheet, twice-weekly office hours , and 1:1 sessions for anyone who missed one.

Impact

  • Negotiating positions the team had won in practice became codified, reusable playbooks.
  • A defined escalation ladder keeps routine fallbacks away from the General Counsel.
  • Coverage extends to vendor paper, where no template existed to start from.
