Telecommunications Counsel

Axiom is seeking experienced ICT or telecommunications lawyers to join a leading Australian telecommunications company on either a permanent or secondment basis. These opportunities span multiple business units and product lines, with each role aligned to a specific area such as satellite technology, connectivity and network services, or complex B2B commercial contracting. In each position, you will provide strategic legal support within your designated business line, working on high-value, technically complex matters in a dynamic and highly regulated environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide legal advice on telecommunications, satellite services, and wholesale network arrangements, including connectivity, capacity, and infrastructure agreements.
  • Lead negotiation and drafting of complex commercial contracts with customers, carriers, vendors, and government stakeholders.
  • Advise on regulatory obligations, including telecommunications law, competition, privacy, and spectrum or space-related frameworks.
  • Identify and manage legal risks associated with network operations, new technologies, and evolving service offerings.
  • Support dispute resolution, regulatory engagement, and cross-functional projects impacting network, satellite, and wholesale service.

Requirements:

  • Qualified lawyer with active Australian practising certificate.
  • Significant post-qualification experience in telecommunications, infrastructure, or related regulated industries.
  • Strong expertise in telecommunications, satellite/space law, wholesale network services, or related regulatory frameworks.
  • Demonstrated experience negotiating complex commercial, supply, and service agreements in network or technology environments.
