Oil & Gas Lawyer

Our client, a leading U.S. oil and gas company, is looking for skilled lawyers to join their team to comprehensive legal support on upstream and/or off-shore operations, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations, managing contractual obligations, and mitigating legal risks. Qualified talent must be able to work two to three days per week on-site in the Houston, TX metropolitan area.
Responsibilities:
- Provide expert legal advice and support on all matters related to upstream oil and gas activities, including exploration, drilling, production, and field development.
- Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of contracts and agreements, including joint venture agreements, operating agreements, drilling contracts, supply agreements, and service contracts.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant local, national, and international laws and regulations governing the upstream oil and gas sector.
- Identify potential legal risks and develop strategies to mitigate these risks, including compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Handle disputes and litigation related to upstream activities, including managing external counsel and representing the company in negotiations, arbitrations, and court proceedings.
Qualifications:
- Must be licensed to practice Law in Texas.
- Minimum of 4 years of experience as a practicing lawyer, with a strong focus on the upstream oil and gas sector.
- Comprehensive knowledge of upstream activities, including exploration, drilling, production, and field development, as well as related legal and regulatory frameworks.
- Familiarity with global regulatory standards and environmental regulations related to oil and gas operations.
- Proven track record in contract management and dispute resolution and Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
Compensation, Benefits & Location:
This role offers a range of competitive compensation starting at $150,000 and a highly competitive benefits package in the alternative legal services marketplace that includes health benefits, 401K and more.
