Real Estate Counsel
US - San Francisco
We are seeking an experienced Real Estate Investment Attorney to join our client’s sophisticated investment management team in San Francisco, CA. This role will involve serving as lead counsel on debt and equity transactions with a strong focus on joint ventures.
Responsibilities:
- Counsel business teams and manage outside counsel on a wide range of debt and equity transactions including drafting and negotiating contracts related to real estate investments.
- Manage equity transactions including joint ventures, acquisitions, dispositions, and workouts and restructurings from borrower’s perspectives.
- Manage debt transactions including workouts and restructuring of troubled loans, foreclosures and deed-in-lieu of foreclosures from lender perspective.
- Originate mortgage and mezzanine loans and manage warehouse lines as both lender and borrower.
Qualifications:
- JD from an accredited law school and admission to California Bar.
- 8 + years of relevant legal experience, ideally from both an AM200 law firm and in-house perspective. Experience in investment management is beneficial.
- Excellent negotiation skills and ability to close complex real estate transactions as lead counsel.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, with proven business acumen.
- Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving abilities, and communication skills.
- Must be available to work 2 -3 days per week on-site in San Francisco, CA.
Compensation, Benefits & Location:
This role offers a range of competitive compensation starting at $210,000+ and a highly competitive benefits package in the alternative legal services marketplace that includes health benefits, 401K and more.
