What’s Your Axiom?
Each month, we at Axiom face the enviable task of researching a Make Time (hey, someone has to have the daunting job of exploring new, great things to do!) We take it quite seriously, typically scouring the city for hidden gems, off-the-beaten-path activities and the latest & greatest the city has to offer. In a very shameless and extremely rare (we promise) manner, this month’s search led us to… well, us.
An ‘axiom’ is defined as a self-evident truth that requires no proof; a universally accepted principle or rule. Our ‘axiom’? Come find out for yourselves!
Join us as we celebrate our ‘axioms’ and yours. We certainly can’t think of a better way to honor your passions… for law and life beyond.

Life before Axiom: Assistant US Attorney, Southern District of NY; Coudert Brothers; SVP/AGC, Citigroup Inc.; Yale Law; Harvard
Something you should know: Years ago I lived and worked on an Indian reservation in Oklahoma… I couldn't possibly do something like that at this point so I’m glad I did it back in my post-college, pre-law school days!
If I could be anywhere in the world... I’d be hiking the Appalachian Trail. I’ve hiked much of the trail in the northeast but the ultimate would be doing its whole length from Maine to Georgia.
I became an attorney because... I found the law interesting, including its increasingly international focus in a globalized world. I’ve always been particularly attracted to being able to go into a company and do something concrete that helps them in a real and practical way.
Vice: Pastrami sandwiches.
Life at Axiom: Bank of New York Mellon

We’ve scoured the World Wide Web (the legal one at least!) so you don’t have to! Check out the Axiom Blawg Roll, our overview of legal happenings across the blogosphere.
Highlights from this month's issue include...
“Although pay has jumped, mid-level satisfaction with compensation hasn’t.”
A new survey reveals that although mid-level associate pay continues to increase at big firms, associates are less than impressed.
“The ethical debate regarding outsourcing may finally rest.”
The ABA has decided that legal outsourcing has in fact been valuable for the global economy, prompting a rumored end to the debate of the ethical permissibility of off-shore legal outsourcing.
“Recycling lawyers during a recession?”
In today’s harsh economy, people are questioning the decision of firms to terminate lawyers, when teaching a new skill-set may be the best all-around answer to the problem.
