As the holidays approach, our thoughts inevitably drift toward times spent eating too much with friends and family. This year, the Food Bank’s ‘go orange’ campaign is here to help make those dreams a reality, for both you and someone less fortunate.

Whether you’re looking for a quick and easy dessert for potluck holiday dinners, or wanting to bring a sweet treat to the office, stop by Ivy Bakery in Brooklyn and try out their “go orange” cookies. Now through December all proceeds benefit the Food Bank.

What happens when a Brewmaster, a Cheesemonger and a Vintner walk into a bar…? Nope, it’s not a joke. It’s the Food Bank’s ‘Spread the Cheer with Beer’ event at Kelso on December 9. This event will arm you with such goodies as knowing which ale pairs best with brie…officially making you the coolest kid at this year’s holiday parties. As with Ivy Bakery, all proceeds benefit the Food Bank.

Too cold to leave your home? Help raise funds by setting up your own Virtual Turkey Drive this season. You provide the logo and group name, and the Food Bank will provide a customized website. Last year the funds raised provided more than 340,000 holiday meals for those in need across the city.

We wouldn’t miss these events even if orange wasn’t their color of choice, so in the name of Axiom and the New York Food Bank— eat, drink, donate… and have a happy holiday!

Life before Axiom: Greenberg Traurig; LeBoeuf
If I weren’t an attorney, I would be: When I was little, I wanted to be a chef or an astronaut so I thought it would be a great idea to be a chef for astronauts. It all stemmed from a brief fascination with freeze-dried ice cream at the Smithsonian NASA exhibit. My passion for space food may have subsided, but my desire to be a chef certainly hasn't.
Career highlight: While I was at Skadden one summer during law school they let us do pro-bono work, and I was able to obtain political asylum for a Mauritanian national, which was definitely rewarding.
If I could be anywhere in the world: Santorini, Greece. It’s where I proposed to my wife, but I haven’t been back since. I’d love to go back with my family when my girls are a little older.
Vice: The couch. I can watch any and all TV – especially all 162 games of the Yankees season. Also— Reality TV. OK, Rock of Love. My wife and I watch religiously.

We’ve scoured the World Wide Web so you don’t have to! Check out the Axiom Blawg Roll, our overview of legal happenings across the blogosphere.

Highlights from this month's issue include...

“Conflict of interest? Who cares?”
With only a few major law firms handling the shakeout of the Wall Street meltdown, the involved banks aren't too bothered by the resulting conflicts in representation.

“Day-of-reckoning for law firms”
As law firms feel the crunch of the current economic climate, everything from the structure of the billable hour to the once-commonplace associate pay-hikes must be re-evaluated.

“Increased client intimacy, not rates”
A more personal approach to legal services is bound to be more efficient and beneficial for attorneys and clients alike.

Axiom is on a mission to change the way attorneys work. We're a new kind of firm that offers our attorneys a self-directed practice and the opportunity for a more satisfying life. Click here for a 60-second glimpse of a short film made about the Axiom Attorney experience.
