Life before Axiom: Xethanol (a.ka. Global Energy Holdings); Pfizer; University of Virginia School of Law; Amherst College
First job out of law school: When almost everyone seemed to be looking for law firm jobs, I knew I wanted to go in-house. I had dropped off my resume and filled out an application with a company then located across the street from Pfizer, and figured that as long as I was in the neighborhood, it would be efficient to stop in at Pfizer and do the same. Later that week I got a Mail-gram from Pfizer inviting me for an interview, and so began a thirty-plus-year “engagement".
Something you should know: I’m an avid biker. My most memorable ride was 80 miles through the 5 boroughs. Some day, I may gain the courage to tackle the 3-day, 250-mile AIDS bike ride from Boston to NYC.
Hidden talent?: Music. I’ve been playing the piano for as long as I can remember. At some point I had to admit that I was neither talented nor dedicated enough to make a decent living at it, but I still play for fun and have even parlayed my love of music to lyrics. Need a personalized song for your wedding or Bar/Bat mitzvah? I’m your Deadline Lyricist.
If you were stranded on a deserted island with only 3 things, what would they be?:
1. If “things” include living things, then our older son – he’s the most resourceful person I know (with no disrespect to our two younger children – or my wife!)
2. A piano
3. All the books I keep meaning to read but never seem to find the time for
