Armed with a BA from Harvard and a JD from UVA, Joseph jumped right into law firm life at Cahill Gordon. A media buff, he later went in-house to PRIMEDIA Inc. where his positions included Assistant GC, Director, and eventually Vice President of Development. Though a great fit, Axiom eventually counted him among the converted. Since joining, Joseph has maintained his passion for publishing and entertainment through engagements at Register.com and Reed Elsevier. He’s also worked for MarketWatch and is currently at Ottaway Publishing, both subsidiaries of Dow Jones. And translating his passion beyond the professional realm, Joseph was the co-producer and co-director of films including Kingdom. (He's even promised to thank Axiom in his Oscar speech.)

Axiom is growing and we find our best people through personal referrals. So, if you know of attorneys who might be right for our firm, please don't be shy... help us spread the word.

    Think Inside The Box

For true New York theaterphiles nonplussed with Broadway’s current crop of aging revivals (Tony Danza in The Producers!) and the serial show-tuning of iconic musicians who should know better (for shame, Bob Dylan), a descendant of American musical theater royalty is on a mission to put the “show” back in “showmanship.”

This month, Simon Hammerstein (grandson of Sound of Music creator, Oscar Hammerstein) and his buddy, actor Jude Law, will raise the curtain on The Box, a stylized vaudeville-era dinner theater for the 21st century nestled in the heart of the cool-again Lower East Side. The Box is not your grandmother’s dinner theater; think Moulin Rouge with VIP table service and a bouncer. Housed in an historic recently- converted sign factory, The Box features an intimate restaurant, cocktail lounge, two bars, a stage with a modern sound system and is adorned with salvaged twenties furniture and antique wallpaper of flowers, flappers and cherubs.

As for the entertainment, don’t expect to see the umpteenth revival of Grease on this stage. The nightly stage shows will be eccentric to say the least, thanks to Box investor and Donkey Show creator Randy Weiner. In a recent interview with Black Book magazine, when asked what kind of entertainment The Box will be offering, Hammerstein revealed one idea: Opera singers in Mexican wrestling masks performing Puccini’s Turandot. Now that IS better than Cats.
